On February 22, at approximately 5:44 p.m. the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Sand Basin Rd. near Grand Ridge to a reported physical disturbance in progress. Upon arrival of Law Enforcement, the victim reported that her son, Zachery Thomas Chambliss, had taken her two phones and would not return them. The Deputy observed obvious injuries to the female, but she refused to incriminate her son regarding the battery allegation. The Deputy then made contact with an eye witness who reported that Chambliss drug his mother across the room by her hair and punched her several times about the head and body. The witness reported seeing another physical altercation between the two earlier in the day also. Zachery Thomas Chambliss, age 30 of Panama City, was taken into custody, charged with Battery; Domestic Violence, and lodged in the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
