William Roy “Cowboy’ Rogers, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 in Goodspring, Tennesse after a lengthy illness.
Roy was born on September 12, 1942 in Safford, Arizona. His family moved to Florida when he was a young child and he grew up in Jackson County. He attended school in Greenwood and lived in the Jackson County area until he moved to Miami as an adult. While there he married Dian Patterson in 1964. He spent most of his life traveling in the southern and western states and returned to Jackson County in his later years. For many years he worked in the construction business as a bricklayer. He enjoyed horseback riding and working with horses.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Bryant Edward Rogers and Beulah Fern Bird Rogers, and a brother, Paul Mack Rogers. He is survived by two sons and four daughters. Darlene Rogers Pinckard Goodspring, TN, Beverly Rogers Devivo (Fito) Hollywood, FL, Bryant Rogers (Natalie) West Desmoines, IA, Will Rogers, Jr Hialeah, FL, Roylene Rogers, Hialeah, FL, and Shondra Rogers, GA, five brothers and three sisters, Jim Rogers (Carol) Alford, FL, Ed Rogers (Aggie) Alford, FL, Dixie Rogers Moore Cottondale, FL, Robert Rogers (Diane) Donalsonville, GA, Genie Rogers Amason Sneads, FL, Tom Rogers (TJ) Waycross, GA, Gary Rogers (Pat) Casa Grande, AZ, and Susie Rogers Anderson (Ron) Wetumpka, AL, thirteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at the Bascom United Methodist Church, Saturday, March 20, 11:00am with Bishop Mark Sims officiating.
