William Randall McCroan (Randy) was born in Marianna, Florida on July 13, 1965, and passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, in Blountstown, Florida, along with his lifelong friend, Steve Mears. Randy was a 1984 graduate of Altha Public School. He continued his education at Chipola Junior College in Marianna and received an Associate’s Degree in Electronics. Randy graduated from Chipola College Law Enforcement Academy in 1991. Randy worked for the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office for the last 30 years. During that time, he served in the positions of deputy sheriff, school resource officer and helicopter pilot. Early in his career, he also served as a reserve officer with the Altha Police Department. Randy retired from the Sheriff’s Office on the date of his death in the rank of Lieutenant. In his position as school resource officer, he was respected and loved by students and teachers. He will be greatly missed because of his selfless service and compassion for others. One of Randy’s passions was flying. He flew many missions with the Sheriff’s Department in service to Calhoun and surrounding counties. Another passion of Randy’s was riding motorcycles with friends. Most people knew Randy as a fun loving prankster, but his close friends and family also knew him to be quite a “softy”. His most recent passion was for spending time with his new granddaughter, Emmie Lou. He is preceded in death by his father, J. L. McCroan, his grandparents, Leonard and Georgia McCroan of Altha, and William and Ellen Williams of Cypress and his sister, Gwendolyn Wells of Altha.

Randy is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Treva Marie McCroan, two children, Randa Marie Jenks (Hunter), and Greyson McCroan, and one granddaughter, Emmie Lou Jenks, all of Blountstown. He is also survived by his mother, Clara McCroan, of Altha, one sister, Terry Soltis (Ed) of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and one brother, Dan McCroan (Melanie) of Marianna and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Sunday, May 15, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. (CDT) at the Altha High School gymnasium with interment following at Sink Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. until time of the service. All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown, FL.
