William Jacob “Jboy” Linton, age 92, of Marianna, Florida passed away on December 13, 2022, at his son’s home in Foley, Alabama.

Jboy was born on April 21, 1930, to Jacob Jefferson and Ida Medlock Linton, and was a life-long resident of Marianna, Florida.

He was a long-time member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Marianna, Florida. He loved his work over the years as an iron worker and local business owner. Some of his favorite past-times were deer and fox hunting, where he raised some of the best hunting dogs in the area. He also loved to fish and has many great memories with his family sharing in these hobbies. He dearly loved his family and spending time with them. He had pictures of his great-grandchildren on a side table that he looked at everyday and talked about each one.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Muriel Chance Linton, his second wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Boutwell Jennings Linton, his son, William Kenneth Linton; granddaughter, Sandy Tyus; brothers and sisters, Luther Linton, Annette Linton, Hayes Linton, Louis Harper, James Linton, Robert Linton, Erma Lee Gainey, Ethel Lewis.

He is survived by one son, Jeffery Linton and wife, Leila; stepson, Tony Jennings and wife, Michelle, stepson, Andy Jennings and wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Jake Linton, Melissa Linton, Kristy Williams, Lacey Linton, Josie Register and husband, Joey, Joshua Linton, Jessica Scarborough and husband, Brandon, Emily Sapp and husband, Trevor, Daniel Linton and wife, Kayla, Spencer Linton, Leigh Anne Powell and husband, Tyson, Alex Jennings and wife, Sayrah, Cody Wayne Jennings, and Robyn Jennings, and 28 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 17, 2022, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 3141 College Street, Marianna, Florida 32446, with Bishop Jonathan R. Sims officiating. Friends and family will be received for the viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the Relief Society Room at the Church.

Burial will follow in Lipford Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. After the burial, friends and family are invited to J-boy’s house for a light lunch and refreshments.
