William Gerald “Buddy” Hughes, age 69 of Alford, Florida passed from this life on January 14, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Buddy was born on February 4, 1951 in Marianna, Florida. He lived in the panhandle for 23 years, coming from Georgia. Buddy proudly served his country in the US Army, where he attained the rank of Major. He received his Bachelors Degree at Oklahoma University and was a “Sooner at heart”. In his free time, Buddy enjoyed fishing, billiards, darts, and golf.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Edward Hughes; sisters: Willie J. Carnley, Pearl Brown.
He is survived by his loving wife: Sandra Hughes of Alford, Florida; son: Ronald Shores of Chipley, Florida; daughter: Miranda Kenner (Deondres) of Cottondale, Florida; sister: Nannie Merle Allgood of Sneads, Florida; grandchildren: Madison McCardle, Rilynne Shores, Brionna Stephens, Deondres Kenner Jr., Keondres Kaiden Kenner.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Obert Funeral Home in Chipley, Florida.
There will be a receiving of friends one-hour prior to the service at Obert Funeral Home: 1556 Brickyard Road, Chipley, Florida.
