William “Bill” John Cressley, Jr. age 82 of Sneads, Florida passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021 at his home. He was born in Westchester, Pennsylvania on January 22, 1939 to the late William John Cressley and Mary Dobbins Cressley. Bill was a devoted Christian and loved serving the Lord. He was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church of Sneads, FL since 1972. Over the years he served in many various leadership roles at the church such as Choir Director, Sunday School teacher, Children’s Church leader as well as Church Treasurer for 42 years. Bill was a veteran of the United States Army where he proudly served his country. He was also a Gideon and served as vice president of the organization for a period. Bill retired from Florida State Hospital – Horticulture Therapy after 33 years of faithful service before working at the Sneads Pharmacy for another 12 years.

Bill loved his family and spending precious time with them. He loved watching all of his children play sports and was very active in all of their other activities from girl scouting to school band. He also loved to travel. His favorite destinations were the mountains and the beach. Bill will be remembered for his infectious smile and commitment to family. He was a man of great faith and lived life serving others. Bill will be missed by his family and friends but never forgotten.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, JoAnn Cressley; three brothers, Larry, Buster and Don Cressley; and two nephews, Bubba Cressley and Steve Sparkman.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Gloria Lipford Cressley; one daughter, Kim Austin (Jody) of Sneads, FL; one sister, Bonnie Jenkins of Live Oak, FL; one brother, James Cressley (Sharon) of Lee, FL; three grandchildren, Jessica Owens (Scott) of Grand Ridge, Justin Austin (Christina) of Marianna, Courtney Reese (Terry) of Altha and eleven great grandchildren; Reanna, Nay Nay, Haley, JJ, Kaleigh, Kaitlynn, Bailey, Taylor, Jacob, Harley and Brantley.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM CST on Thursday, February 11, 2021 in the McAlpin Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tim Hamblen officiating. Burial will follow in the Jimmy Lipford Fields of Memory Cemetery in Marianna, FL. Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM CST in the McAlpin Funeral Home Chapel.

Flowers will be welcomed by the family or you may send a contribution in memory of Bill to the Gideon’s or to the First Freewill Baptist Church of Sneads.
