Vernon Ralph Vickery left this world on January 13, 2021. He was 83 years old, a loving husband, daddy and granddaddy. Vernon was born on October 28,1937 in Alford, Florida to Wesley and Jecoliah Morris Vickery. He proudly served in the United States Navy for 2 years, and after 34 years, he retired from his career delivering bread for the Colonial Bread Company. He was an active member at Life Connection Church for over 59 years, doing anything from mowing grass, cleaning the church, to teaching Sunday School. He loved and sacrificed for his family and enjoyed spending time with them. On September 3, 1961, he married Dorothy Vickery, the love of his life for 59 yrs. He and mom served many elderly people in the community, doing whatever was needed. He was a true servant of God.

Vernon was preceded in death by his father and mother, William Wesley Vickery and Jecoliah Vickery, his sister Shirley Taylor, brother Horace Vickery.

He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy Vickery; three sons, Van Vickery and wife Lorraine, Vince Vickery and wife Susan, Todd Vickery and wife Anita; six grandchildren Kasey Suddath and husband Kyle, Zach Vickery and wife Emily, Vanessa Washburn and husband Andrew, Zane Vickery and wife Anna Kate, Tori Vickery, Zephan Vickery and fiancé Haley; one great grandchild Kayden Suddath, and one on the way; sister Leverne Dunham, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special Thank You to Tallahassee Memorial Rehab for the excellent care they gave Dad the last 2 weeks.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at McAlpin Funeral Home on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 1:00 PM Eastern Time and interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Sycamore, Florida. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service, starting at 12:00 PM Eastern Time.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, face coverings should be worn by attendees while indoors as recommended by the CDC.
