Sandra Lee Hare Granger, lovingly known as Sandra, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2023, in Tallahassee, FL. Born on April 13, 1944, in Sneads, FL, Sandra was the daughter of the late Edgar Hare and Doris Cox Hare.
Sandra was predeceased by her father, Edgar Hare; mother, Doris Cox Hare; brothers, Doug Hare and Angus Hare; and her uncle, James “JW” Cox. She is survived by her daughter, Sonya L. Collins; son, Angus Mathews; brother, Mike Hare (Angie), and a host of nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
Sandra was a dedicated and hardworking woman who spent her career as a convenience store manager before retiring. She was known for her exceptional work ethic and commitment to her job, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues and customers alike.
Outside of her professional life, Sandra had a passion for several hobbies that brought her joy and relaxation. She loved to spend her free time fishing, often taking trips with her family to enjoy the tranquility of nature and the excitement of the catch. Sandra also enjoyed visiting the casinos in Biloxi, MS, where she would try her luck at the slot machines and revel in the lively atmosphere.
Every year at Christmas she would make peanut butter balls for friends and family. What started out as just a small treat for her family grew into a community-wide gift for all who knew her. It became a tradition that was long anticipated during the holiday season.
Sandra was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Her warm smile, infectious laughter, and caring nature will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she has left this world, her spirit and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
As we say goodbye to Sandra Lee Hare Granger, let us celebrate her life and cherish the moments we shared with her. May her memory bring comfort and inspiration to all who knew her, and may she rest in peace knowing that her legacy will continue to touch the lives of those she left behind.
A Memorial Service will be held for Sandra on Saturday, June 24, 2023, beginning at 11:00 AM Eastern Time at Lake Talquin Baptist Church, 21335 Blountstown Highway, Tallahassee, FL. McAlpin Funeral Home of Sneads, FL is handling all arrangements.
