Ruthie Mae Brannon, 88, of Cottondale, FL, went home to be with the Lord on August 27, 2021 at Marianna Health & Rehab Center.
Ruthie Mae was born on July 13, 1933, in Jackson County, FL to Wilkey and Carrie Phillmon. She worked as a seamstress, a salesclerk at several department stores, and, after retiring, a substitute teacher at Cottondale Elementary and Alford Schools. Ruthie Mae enjoyed cooking, fishing, crocheting, puzzles of all kinds and playing games with her family. She was a longtime member of Salem Freewill Baptist Church of Steele City, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 41 years Thomas Buford Brannon, 3 brothers, Burton, Buel, and JB Phillmon, 2 sisters Viola Porter Gruver and Earnestine Adam, and a daughter-in-law Paula Brannon. Survivors include 4 children, Loretta Whitehead and Charles of Cottondale, FL, Rebecca Brannon of Havana, FL, Thomas Allen Brannon and Juanita of Flat Rock, AL, Lauren Strader and Bryan of Freeport, FL, 3 grandchildren Stacia Barber and Cory, Jantzen Whitehead and Casey, all of Marianna, FL, Thomas Jordan Strader of North Carolina, 3 great grandchildren Mallory and Brady Barber, and Adeline Whitehead. One brother, Jewell Phillmon and Trish of Jacksonville, FL.

Funeral services will be held 11AM Monday, August 30, 2021 at Salem Freewill Baptist Church in Steele City, FL with Bro. Cloys Joiner and Bro. JW Watson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.
The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
