Ruth Ann Swanson, 69, of Marianna, Florida passed away peacefully at Flowers Hospital, Dothan, Alabama, on Monday, October 31, 2022.
Ruth Ann was born on May 6, 1953 in Rochester, Minnesota. She was a 1971 graduate of Marianna High School. After graduating from high school, she enlisted in the United States Army, serving both in the U.S. Army and the Navy Reserves. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, Ruth Ann moved to Pensacola, Florida where she pursued her education as a dental hygienist at Pensacola Jr. College. After graduating at the top of her class, Ruth Ann began her dental hygienist career with the State of Florida and remained there until her retirement.
Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her father, Arland Swanson, of Rochester Minnesota and her stepfather, Marcus Hagan. She is survived by her mother, Verna M. Hagan, two brothers, John Hagan and wife Suzanne, Jeff Hagan, and wife Kim. Nieces and nephews; Heather Hagan, Michael John Hagan and wife Amber, Scott Hagan, Kimberly Shores and husband Michael. Ruth Ann had a deep love for her family, and a special bond with her nephew Michael John, whom she raised.
Ruth Ann loved to laugh, always finding humor and the bright side in every situation. She loved animals, especially her cats, attending antique car shows, and watching the Kentucky Derby.
Graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Marianna, Florida on 2 PM Wednesday, November 2, 2022 with her brothers, Rev. John Hagan, and Rev. Jeff Hagan officiating.
