Rosa Lee Joyner passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, January 28, 2020. Mrs. Joyner was born in Bartow, Florida and was the daughter of the late Susie L. Lawrence and the late James Lewis Mann. Her father died when she was two and she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Douglas Laurence.
Mrs. Joyner moved to Sneads in the 50’s, accompanied by her four children. She attended Lively Vo-Tech and completed a Beauty Course after which, she went to work with Ann Craven in Ann’s Beauty Shop. She worked in the beauty shop for 30 years, until her retirement.
Ms. Joyner met and married W. L. Joyner and through his kind nature and loving heart, Mr. Joyner adopted all four of her children and helped to raise them. A true man sent from God, as her children would often say. After her retirement she and her husband enjoyed fishing, traveling and visiting with their children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Joyner is survived by two daughters, Nina McLeod, and Ann Hatcher; two sons, Mike Joyner (Dianne) and Doug Joyner; one sister-in-law, Virginia Ann James (Champ) and one brother-in-law, Bobby Joyner; along with ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, W. L. Joyner, her oldest grandson, John Kevin Ozbolt, and her son-in-law, Roy McLeod.
Visitation for friends and family will be held on Friday, January 31, 2020 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Central Time at McAlpin Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 beginning at 11:00 AM Central Time at the Sneads First United Methodist Church with Dr. Ernie Gray and Rev. Gino Mayo officiating. Interment will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Sneads, FL.
