Ronnie Gene Owens


Ronnie Gene Owens, 69, a long-time resident of Sneads, Florida passed away on April 26, 2020. Ronnie was born on April 10, 1951 in Bonifay, Florida to Johnny and Inez Miller Owens. Ronnie later moved to Sneads, Florida where he met his loving wife of 43 years, Christine. He began his career of 28 years with the Department of Corrections starting as a Correctional Officer I and promoted up through the ranks to Lieutenant at Liberty CI as his last post. In retirement, Ronnie enjoyed spending time on his bull dozier, skid steer and tractor clearing land as well as mud bogging in his younger years. When he was not working, he was spending time with his precious family. Ronnie was a quiet, kind-hearted and dedicated man who loved his family and friends. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Christine Owens; two daughters, Robin Edenfield and Rhonda Owens both of Sneads; one sister, Marie Cumbie (Larry) of Climax, GA; four grandchildren, Lori, Blake, Blaire and Gavin; four great grandchildren, Trai, Kaiden, Wyatt and Brett; his faithful canine companions, Bo and Nova; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Earl and Wayne Owens; one sister, Juanita Mead and one daughter, Melissa Barnes.
Flowers will be welcomed by the family or memorial donations can be made in Mr. Ronnie’s memory to Sneads Assembly of God Church.
Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, a private family graveside service will be held at Millsprings Cemetery with Dr. Juno Douglas officiating and McAlpin Funeral Home directing.
