Robert “R.C.” Poole, 86, a lifelong resident of Dellwood, Florida, passed away October 15, 2019. R.C. was born January 24, 1933 in Dellwood, Florida; the son of John C. and Eror Poole. He worked for many years as a UTRS III at Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, FL before his retirement. R.C. was a member of Dellwood Baptist Church and actively attended for as long as he was able. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, vegetable gardening, and yardwork – pretty much anything outdoors. R.C. was also fond of chess and checkers and enjoyed playing when he could find a formidable opponent. He was a longstanding member of the “Marianna Hardee’s Breakfast Club”. He was a kind and gentle person who loved to spend time with family especially his children and grandchildren. R.C. enjoyed life and was always there to brighten the lives of others with his great sense of humor. R.C. will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
Survivors include his two sons, James C. Poole and his wife Shannon of Sneads, FL and Glen Poole and his wife Jane of Wake Forest, NC; two sisters, Helen Allen of Dellwood, FL and Lillie Mae Goodson of Crawfordville, FL; one brother, Brannon Poole of Marianna, FL; seven grandchildren, Liza, Anna, Michelle, Jacob, Padraic, Jenna, and Lyndsey; six great grandchildren, Mikaela, Morgan, Michael, Judy Ann, Nik, and Noah; as well as a host of many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Eror Poole; his wife, Frances M. Poole; one daughter, Judy Poole Crowley; and several brothers and sister.
Flowers are welcomed; however, in lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to make memorial contributions in Mr. R.C.’s name to Dellwood Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 beginning at 2:00 PM Central Time at McAlpin Funeral Home in Sneads, FL with Rev. Gary Gable officiating. There will be a time of visitation for friends and family one hour prior to funeral services. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Chattahoochee, FL.
