Robert “Buddy” Anderson Bannerman

Robert “Buddy” Anderson Bannerman was born at Frasier Ellis Hospital in Dothan, Alabama on June 25, 1938.  He was the only child of Robert Charles and Marie Bowles Bannerman.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Charles and Marie Bowles Bannerman and grandsons, Wilton Robert Massengill and Jaren Scott Bannerman.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Sharon; five daughters, Deborah Mathewuse, Nancy Tew and husband, Gary, Susan Massengill and husband, Rance, Kathy McCrary and Rodney Carpenter, Laurie Massengill and husband, Greg; one son, Scott Bannerman and wife, Mendy; seven grandchildren, Kristin Spradling and husband, Joe, Kelley Kindelspire and husband, Jason, Kevin Tew, Chelsey McCrary,  Brandon Massengill and wife, Kristen, Courtney Clemmons and husband, Troy, and Gage Bannerman; ten great grandchildren, Brooke, Leah, Kamdyn, Avery, Ellaree, Rhett, Charlcee-Grace, Crixus, Alivia and Fitz.

Buddy was a Captain in the U.S. Army Green Berets and a Jump Master for the 82nd Airborne.  His engagements included: Thailand, Viet Nam, Central American, South America and Cambodia. He was a Professional Land Surveyor for over 50 years was a proud owner and operator of Bannerman Surveyors, Inc. Buddy served as President of the Florida Society of Professional Land Surveyors.  He was a member of ACSM and was bestowed as a Fellow in National Society of Professional Surveyors. He also was registered as a Professional Land Surveyor in the State of Colorado and served as a member the Colorado Society of Professional Land Surveyors for many years.  He was a member of the Presbyterian Church since 1945 and The First Presbyterian Church of Marianna for over 40 years serving as an Elder. Buddy proudly served as a member of the Lions Club for over 60 years serving as President for two consecutive terms. He was a member of BPOE Lodge #1516 for over 40 years and was awarded The Elk of the Year. Buddy was a member of the Sons of American Revolution. 

Buddy graduated Leon High School in 1956 and Attended the University of Florida and Florida State University.  He was a life member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.

Buddy loved spending time hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 25, 2022 at the First Presbyterian Church in Marianna.

Graveside services will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Tallahassee, Florida on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing. 

Those serving as pallbearers will be Gage Bannerman, Brandon Massengill, Kevin Tew, Troy Clemmons, Jason Kindelspire and Danny Hamilton and Joe Spradling.Expressions of sympathy may be submitted online at www.mariannachapelfh.com.
