Mr. Richard Allen Patterson of Malone entered into eternal rest on June 24th at home surrounded by his caring and loving family. He was 70 years old.
He was of the Methodist faith and a member of Mt. Shiloh African Methodist Episcopal Church. He retired from the United States Air Force and the Department of Corrections as a Classification’s Officer and was Past-President of the NAACP Jackson County Branch.
He leaves precious memories with three daughters Kathy Diane Young and husband Emerson of Greenwood, Florida, Patricia A. Patterson and April J. Patterson both of Marianna, Florida; two brothers, Nathaniel Martin and wife Elisha of Dothan, Alabama and Lourenzo Martin of Bascom, Florida; four sisters, Dessie P. Matthews and husband Edwin, Diann P. Hayes both of Jacksonville, Florida, Jennifer Lewis of Dothan, Alabama and Harriet Blanks of Bascom, Florida; mother-in-law, Ms. Lonnie Mae McCartney of Miami, Florida; nine grandchildren, Yasmine Patterson-Bellamy, Lance Corporal Marquez Patterson-Rhodes, Aisley Patterson-Rhodes, Marquis Patterson-Robbins, Amarius Robbins, Marques Patterson-Rhodes, Roy Hughes, Avery Patterson-Rhodes and Javiah Sorrells; one great grandchild, Lolah Brooke Johnson; one brother-in-law, Cleveland McCartney, Jr. of Miami, Florida; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Harris and Sandra McCartney both of Miami, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A public viewing will be held Wednesday, July 1st from 3-6 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home Chapel.
A homegoing celebration will be held graveside on Thursday, July 2nd at 10 a.m. at Mt. Shiloh African Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery with Reverend Abraham John, Reverend Joe Tripp, Reverend Ronnie Spears and Sister Jennifer Lewis officiating. Interment will follow with military services humbly performed by the Marianna VFW Post 12046 Honor Guard. All arrangements have been entrusted to the Caring Staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna.
