Reverend Mitchell Taylor, 66, a resident of Sycamore, FL, stepped into Heaven November 17, 2021 with family by his side in Tallahassee, FL.
Mitchell was born April 6, 1955 in Chattahoochee, FL to Albert and Bessie Taylor.
Mitchell was married to Barbara McDaniel for 48 years. She was the love of his life and it showed every day. He loved and was so proud of his three children along with their spouses and his six grandchildren.
Mitchell grew up and lived in Sycamore, FL. He was an expert carpenter by trade and built many homes in the surrounding area. He started working at Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, FL in early 1990’s where he was a Maintenance Supervisor. He retired in March 2020. He enjoyed fishing and loved to share his fishing expertise with others, especially his grandchildren.
Mitchell, alongside his wife Barbara, served as pastor of Rock Bluff Assembly of God for the past 27 years and also the West Florida Network Section 10 Presbyter. Mitchell loved God with all his heart and it showed to everyone he met. He also deeply loved his church family and enjoyed the time spent fellowshipping together with them. His passion was preaching and teaching God’s word which he shared not only from the pulpit but in his everyday life. His life has touched so many locally and around the world.
Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara; children, Shawn Acree (Mike) of Tallahassee, FL; Eric Taylor (Carrie) of Palmer, AK; Nathan Taylor (Casey) of Crawfordville, FL; 6 grandchildren, Hannah & Micayla Acree, Morgan & Sydney Taylor, and Levi & Callen Taylor; his sisters, Lois Dalton of Tallahassee, FL; Louise Neal (Troy) of Sneads, FL; Judy Joyner (Paul) of Tallahassee, FL; Cathy Somerset (Wayne) of Crawfordville, FL and many nieces and nephews.
Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Bessie Taylor, brothers; Harvey, AJ, Adrian Earl, Billy Mac, Edward Taylor and sister Hazel Silcox.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. Eastern Time at Rock Bluff Assembly of God, Bristol, FL, with Reverend Robin Ryals and Reverend Lannis Stephens officiating. Interment will follow in the Rock Bluff Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 5:00 P.M. Eastern Time until 7:00 P.M. Eastern Time at McAlpin Funeral Home in Sneads.
