Otho Hobbs, Sr.


Otho Hobbs, Sr., 72 of Grand Ridge,FL passed away Sunday, January 5, 2020 surrounded by his family at Jackson Hospital. He was born in Greensboro, FL to Willis and Meanry Hobbs and retired from construction work in 1984. Otho also served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969. He was given an honorable discharge in 1973. Otho loved fishing, camping, making music with brothers, family, and grand kids; and was a great daddy and husband. He loved gardening, plants, animals and most of all his best friend, his dog, “Bocephus”.
He was preceded in death by parents, Willie and Meanry Hobbs; two sisters, Joyce Blankenship and Carolyn Gregg; two brothers, Wallace Hobbs and Henry Hobbs; sister-in-law, Brenda Hobbs and great-nephew, Brandon Hobbs.
Otho is survived by his loving wife, Clara Hobbs, who was also his Caretaker; daughters Erica Brown and significant other, Buddy Maddox of Grand Ridge, FL, Brandi and husband, Durward Dudley of Grand Ridge, FL, Jessica Ruff of Grand Ridge, FL, Lynette and husband, Jeremy Miller of Blountstown, FL, Stephanie Baker of Panama City, FL, Alisa and husband, Darron Hill of Sneads, FL; son, Otho Hobbs, Jr. of South Carolina and significant other, Jackie Ortiz of California; brother, Theo Hobbs, Sr.; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and one on the way; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. He will be loved and missed dearly by family and friends.
Funeral services will be 2 P.M., Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Maddox Chapel. Interment will follow at Cow Pen Pond Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends from 1 P.M. until funeral time at Maddox Chapel.
