On 6-16-20 at approximately 12:32 p.m. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported physical disturbance on Flat Rd. near Greenwood. Also, while the officers were enroute they were advised that the suspect, Jason Kyle Perry was possibly armed with a firearm. The female victim made her way to her mother’s residence next door and met with deputies when they arrived. She reported that she and Perry had been cohabitating for approximately one year and had been involved in a romantic relationship. On this date, the victim reported that she and Perry became involved in an argument which escalated to Perry grabbing her by the throat and pushing her onto the bed. Perry reportedly slapped and hit the victim. While holding her by the throat, the victim stated that Perry did cut off her oxygen supply to the point where she almost passed out. The assault continued until the victim’s mother knocked on the door and stated that she was calling the police. At that point, Perry produced a handgun from his pocket, but did not directly threaten the female with it. Upon the arrival of the Sheriff’s Office, a check of the residence was conducted for Perry, but he had fled. The K-9 Tracking Team from Jackson Correctional Institution responded and was in the process of establishing a track when a person matching Perry’s description was observed crossing Flat Road approximately ¼ mile from the residence. He was taken into custody without incident. Perry did make self-incriminating statements regarding choking the victim. He was charged with Felony Domestic Battery by Strangulation and lodged in the Jackson County Correctional Facility.
