On Tuesday May 25th, 2021 at 2:06pm, officers and investigators with the Marianna Police Department observed Travet Smith on Eva Mae Street in Marianna.

It was known to officers that Smith did have an active felony arrest warrant out of Jackson County, Florida for violating his probation. Smith has also been a suspect in recent burglaries that have occurred within the City of Marianna.

At the time of observing Smith, Smith began to flee from officers. A foot pursuit ensued and officers pursued Smith behind a set of apartments located on Hannah Street. Officers continued to order Smith to stop but he failed to do so.

Smith ran through a wood line and traveled north on Matties Lane. Smith traveled through a dense brush area where he was found hiding underneath the brush. Smith was taken into custody without further incident.

Due to Smith fleeing from officers after being ordered to stop, Smith was subsequently charged with resisting arrest without violence. Smith was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility where he will await first appearance.
