Murry George Campbell, 83 years old, of Chattahoochee, Florida, went to meet his Lord on Tuesday, March 17, 2020. He passed away peacefully in his home with family at his bedside. Murry was born March 12, 1937 in Chattahoochee, Florida to John Daniel and Claudia Louise Campbell.
Murry married Marilyn Peacock on March 9th, 1958 and they enjoyed sixty-two wonderful years together. Murry attended Chattahoochee High School and he immediately began his work career after school. He spent the majority of his work years at Florida State Hospital working in the Power House, Firehouse, the HVAC Shop and the Plumbing Shop. Prior to his long employment with FSH he worked at Graham Air Force Base. He always had fond memories of his time at the base.
Murry was a lifelong member of the Chattahoochee Presbyterian Church (PCA). Murry was usually a quiet man, but his dry humor and quick wit always surfaced at just the perfect moment.
Murry is survived by his wife Marilyn Peacock Campbell. He leaves behind two children, Maury (Hope) Campbell and Marla (Larry) Cotton. He also had eight wonderful grandchildren, Allen Campbell, Alec Campbell, Alden Campbell, Cameron (Amy) Allen, Caitlin (Trevor) Morgan, Connor (Courtney) Allen, Hayden Cotton and Harper Cotton and three beautiful great-grandchildren, Addilyn and Declan Morgan and Ezra Michael Allen. His grandchildren always gave him immense joy. He also leaves behind a sister and brother in law, Claudia and Jimmy McDaniel and his sisters in law, Diane (Monroe) Campbell and Rose (Lavon) Wilson and Brenda (Dillon) Peacock and a brother in law Carlton (Janet) Peacock and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Monroe Campbell, LaVon Wilson and Phillip Wilson.
Funeral Services will be Friday, March 20, 2020 at 11:00 AM EST at Chattahoochee Presbyterian Church. The family will receive visitors at 10:00 AM EST at the church prior to the service. Murry’s six grandsons will serve as his pallbearers. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
Donations can be made in Mr. Murry’s Memory to Chattahoochee Presbyterian Church (4374 Hardaway Hwy, Chattahoochee, FL 32324) or to Big Bend Hospice (1723 Mahan Center Blvd. Tallahassee, FL 32308). In lieu of donations, flowers will be appreciated.
