Ms. Neva Gayle Calhoun-Wooden of Marianna, Florida gained her heavenly wings on June 22nd at home. She was 49 years of age.
At an early age, Neva received the Lord Jesus Christ as her Personal Savior and was baptized at Bethel Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr. L.L. Brooks. She served in the Youth Choir.
Neva was educated in the public schools of Jackson County and was a 1991 graduate of Marianna High School. She was employed with Sunland Marianna as a Human Services Senior Supervisor for 24 years. She attended Chipola College and earned a certification in Mental Retardation on July 30, 1992.
Neva will be truly missed by her family and friends. She leaves to cherish precious and everlasting memories with three children; her firstborn son, SGT. Jalen KD Calhoun of El Paso, Texas, a beautiful daughter, Miss Nadia C. Wooden and a remarkable young son, ZaKariah D. Bellamy both of Marianna, Florida; three sisters, Katrina Felton-Fairley of Enterprise, Alabama, Angela Clemons of Marianna, Florida and Shlonda Calhoun of Pensacola, Florida; one brother, Minister Christopher Felton and wife Tameika of Palatka, Florida; one niece, Adre’ana Clemons of Marianna, Florida; one nephew, Solomon Fairley of Enterprise, Alabama; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A public viewing will be held Friday, July 1st from 3-5 at Peoples Funeral Home Chapel. Neva will lie-in-repose on Saturday at Second West from 10:00a,m, until the 11:00a.m. funeral time.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held Saturday, July 2nd at 11:00a.m. at Second West Missionary Baptist Association Church with Moderator Riley J. Henderson, Reverend Mark Fed, Reverend Napolean Cotton, Minister Christopher and Minister Jerome Cotton officiating. Interment will follow in the Orange Hill Cemetery with arrangements entrusted to the Caring Staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna.
