Mrs. Gloria Jean McClain age 79 of Winter, FL and formerly of Chipley, FL (Orange Hill Community) passed away Tuesday August 25th, at Winter Haven Hospital in Winter Haven, FL. Funeral service will be held 1p.m. Friday September 4th at the Shira Sr. & Chelcie Mckinnie Memorial Chapel located at the funeral home and with Rev. Earl Cooke officiating and with Mckinnie Funeral Home of Campbellton, FL. directing.
Public viewing will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday September 3rd at the funeral home.
Gloria Jean Everett McClain was born in Chipley, Florida on April 7, 1941 to the late Spencer Sr. and Alice Bell Everett.
She confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Orange Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Chipley, Florida. Later she moved to Jacksonville, Florida and joined St. Thomas Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Ernie Murray and she served faithfully in Bible study and the Women Mission. Gloria was faithful until relocating to Bartow, Florida. After relocating she joined First Providence Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Daryl Jones. She was an active member and served faithfully until her health declined. She attended Roulhac High School in Chipley, Florida. Gloria furthered her education by receiving her certification in certified nursing assistance (CNA). She was employed as a private sitter for numerous of years. During her tenure she nurtured and witness too many.
Gloria Jean lived a life full of love and her laughter and joy impacted many lives throughout her journey.
She was preceded in death by one sister Agnes Chandler and three brothers Russell Everett, Douglas Everett and Kenneth Everett. Gloria leaves to celebrate a lifetime of lasting memories and love, to a devoted family:
Three Sisters: Junita West of St. Petersburg, Florida; Mary C. Everett of Bartow, Florida; Gwen Everett McKenzie (Vann) of Lakeland, Florida
Four Brothers: Robert Everett (Gwen) of Jacksonville, Florida; Spencer Everett (Louise) of Houston, Texas; Larry Everett of Chipley, Florida;
As a brother: Earl Cooke (Mary) of Chipley, Florida
Two Sister-in-laws: Deborah Everett of Jacksonville, Florida; Evelyna Durden of Caryville, Florida.
And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and many loving friends.
