Mrs. Doris J. Sorey-Hoover age 58 of Campbellton, FL passed away Wednesday June 9 th
at Flowers Hospital Dothan, AL with her loving family by her side.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 17 th at St. Paul/New Bethel
Cemetery located at 5180 Hwy 273 Campbellton, FL with Reverend Melenda T. Smith
officiating, Elder James M. Bighem Eulogist, Pastor Kim Williams, Elder Carolyn
Morgan and Min. Douglas Cotton pulpit associates and with McKinnie Funeral Home of
Campbellton, FL directing. There will be no public viewing.
Doris Jean Sorey-Hoover was born on January 25, 1963 to LB and Queen Sorey in
Campbellton, Florida. She was raised in a Christian home and accepted Christ as her
Lord and Savior at an early age.
She was educated in the Jackson County School System and a graduate of Graceville
High School.
She met her soul mate, Leron Hoover, Jr. in 1976 and they were united in Holy
Matrimony on May 23, 1986.
She worked 20 plus years at Russell’s Sewing Factory and several years at West Point
Stevens. She also worked several years at Dove Academy for Female Juveniles
Offenders in Graceville, Florida, until her health begin to fail.
She also enjoyed sitting on the porch, spending time with family and her “squirrels” (Her
grandbabies).
She was preceded in death by her, brother: Alan Clayton Sorey; father-in-law: Leron
Hoover, Sr., and brother-in-law: Lambert Hoover.
She leaves cherished memories with, her loving husband: Leron Hoover, Jr. of
Campbellton, FL; children: Shanerica (Lukenta) Davis of Campbellton, FL and Leron
(Sabrina) Hoover, III of Bonifay, FL; parents: LB and Queen Sorey of Campbellton, FL;
siblings: Laymon (Doris) Karl Sorey of Campbellton, FL and Janie (Tina) Pinkard of
Lawrenceville, GA; grandchildren: Cameron Talley, Emerie Davis and Emiya Davis all
of Campbellton, FL; great-grandson: Camden Talley of Chipley, FL; mother-in-law:
Lois Hoover of Campbellton, FL; sisters-in-law: Carolyn (Howard) McKinnie, Marilyn
(Michael) Britt and Cara (Issaac) Merritt all of Campbellton, FL and Virleen Mack of
Nashville, TN and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
