Mr. Truman Daniels age 74 of Campbellton, FL passed away Saturday May 4, 2024, at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11a.m. Saturday May 18th at Shira Sr. & Chelcie Memorial Chapel located 5304 Bowden Hill Road Campbellton, FL with Rev Earnestine Daniels officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Paul-New Bethel Cemetery located 5180 Hwy 273 Campbellton, FL with Military Honors and with Mckinnie Funeral Home of Campbellton, FL directing. A public viewing will be held from 4 to 6p.m. Friday May 17th at the funeral home.

Mr. Truman Daniels was born on October 26th, 1949, in Campbellton, Florida, to the union of Ms. Eva Mae Green and Mr. Mose Daniels. He spent his formative years in Campbellton where he attended primary school in Jackson County until the age of 12. At the age of 12, the family relocated to Miami. While living in Miami, Truman attended and graduated from Miami Jackson High School, where he excelled in baseball and track.

Following graduation from Miami Jackson High School in 1967, Truman enlisted in the United States Army where he spent 4 years before being honorably discharged due to extenuating circumstances. After being discharged, Truman attended Miami Dade Junior College to pursue a degree in Sociology. At Miami Dade he continued running track and was successful in Judo, winning several Martial Arts Championships. While at Miami Dade, he met his wife Ms. Earlene Spratling. On July 28, 1972, the two were married.

In 1974, Truman re-enlisted in the Army and was stationed at Fort Jackson, South Carolina for Basic Training. After completing Basic Training for the second time, he was stationed at several different military bases: Fort Huachuca Sierra Vista, in Arizona where he operated as a Ground Surveillance Radar Crewman for 3 years, in Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas, in Korea and in Germany where he operated as a Unit Supply Specialist.

While serving in the military Truman studied and worked diligently, receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science from Texas A&M. During his time in the service Truman received many decorations such as: the Expert Badge with M-16, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, 3D Award (?Good Conduct Medals 4th? National Defense). Truman served proudly in the Army until February 23, 1983, when he received his second honorable discharge.

After his time in the military, Truman returned to Florida where he held several positions that allowed him to fully dedicate himself to the community. He served as an assistant teacher, driver?s education instructor, drug counselor and lastly, a probation officer. Truman eventually retired from Arthur G Dozier School for Boys in 2008. During the times of his community work, Truman was also very entrepreneurial – owning a successful restaurant and childcare center.

After retiring, Truman discovered a love for nature and gardening. He cared for his vineyard with great joy and high mindedness. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who was full of life and willing to help anyone in need. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Julian Daniels.

Truman leaves behind to cherish his memory: His Wife: Earlene Daniels His Children: Alan (Kecia) Daniels, Africa Daniels, Truman (Jeslyn) Daniels Jr, Phillip (Leah) Daniels Grandchildren: Johnston (Kendra) Daniels, Mason Daniels, Maddox Daniels, Logan Daniels, China Daniels, Ataliah Daniels, Julian Daniels Jr, Truman Daniels III, Alora Daniels, Carver Daniels, Murphie Daniels, Cohen Daniels, Bellamie Daniels, and Tatum Daniels. Great Grandchildren: Bryson Daniels, Noa Daniels, Easton Daniels. Siblings: Mose Daniels Jr, Jirah Daniels, Valeri (Fred) Daniels Shackelford. Aunt: Warnettia (Uncle Jake) Daniels and a host of other family members.
