Mr. Quinton Joseph Shores, Sr., 99, of Round Lake, Fl, passed away on August 4, 2020. He would have celebrated his 100th birthday on August 28, 2020. He was a loving father and friend who has helped many people in the community over the years. He was a Christian who was proud of and devoted to his family, friends, community and church. He helped build Round Lake Baptist Church and was a long-time member until recent years when he attended White Pond Baptist Church.

Mr. Shores was a WW II Veteran and proudly served our country in the Army Air Corps. He was an Airplane Armorer and flew on B-17 bombers. He also served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. He was self-employed, a lifelong farmer and was one of the first people to reintroduce Satsumas and citrus to the Jackson County area.

Mr. Shores was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Lovie Shores, his daughter Nancy Karen, his parents Joe and Ida Shores, brothers Edward Shores, Price Shores, Carson Shores, and sisters Kathleen Shores, Bernice Harper, and Laverne Gill.

Mr. Shores is survived by four sons; James “Bo” Shores and wife Carlotta of Alford, Quinton “Joe” Shores, Jr. and wife Joyce of Round Lake, Dirk “Buddy” Shores and wife Lisa of Marianna, and Phillip Shores and wife Sabra of Bonnett Pond Community; one daughter Angie Larson and husband Jeff of Jacksonville; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister Juanita Melvin; and many friends and loved ones and his beloved cat “Sam”.

The family would like to thank Dr. Chris Deer, Dr. Mark Akerson, and the nurses and staff of Jackson Hospital and Marianna Health and Rehabilitation Center for all of their kindness and care.

A private graveside service will be held for the immediate family only.

Marianna Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
