Mr. Moses Barkley, Sr.


Mr. Moses Barkley, Sr. Age 89 passed away Monday, February 26th at Graceville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Graceville, FL.
A public viewing service will be held from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday March 2, 2024, at the Shira Sr. and Chelcie McKinnie Memorial Chapel located at 5304 Bowden Hill Road Campbellton, FL. Memorialization will be by cremation with McKinnie Funeral Home of Campbellton in charge of arrangements.
Moses Barkley, Sr. was the oldest child born to the late Jack and Leasiebell (Lewis) Barkley in Campbellton, Florida on August 6, 1934. To this union seven children were born.
He confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and joined a local church.
He began his career as a concrete truck driver in Pensacola, Florida. He relocated and continued his work in that industry in Tallahassee, Florida. He worked at various construction sites pouring cement and was known in Tallahassee as “the cement man” until his retirement.
He was a “ladies man”, who loved to dance, was always on the go, and loved life up until he got sick. During his life’s journey he fathered 8 children (5 daughters and 3 sons).
He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings: Andrew Barkley, Lola (Barkley) Tripp, Pearlie Mae (Barkley) Oliver, Jim Barkley, Leasiebell Barkley and Robert Barkley; 2 daughters: Angela Michelle Barkley and Minnie Lois Bell; 1 grandchild: Nikki Barkley Jones; and 1 great-grandchild: Cierra Renee Williams.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his wife: Estelle Barkley of Tahoe, VA; his children: Willa B. McKinnie of Campbellton, FL, Moses (Betty) Barkley Jr. of Campbellton, FL, Tanner Jerome (Sherry) Barkley of Columbus, GA, Patricia McCullough of Atlanta, GA, Donna Hixon of Jacksonville, FL, and Quintin (Sharonetta) Barkley of Tahoe, VA; 22 grandchildren, a host of great-grands, great-great grands, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
