After a long and well spent life, Mother Irene L. Bowles, gained her wings on Monday, December 5th at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital at the blessed age of 100.
Sister Bowles, affectionately known as MuDear, accepted Christ early and joined New Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Bascom, Florida where she served faithfully in numerous ministries. She served on the usher board alongside her husband and several children. While living in Tallahassee, Florida with her daughter, she attended Unity Baptist Church on Springhill Road in Tallahassee, Florida.
She leaves cherished memories to a loving and devoted family: one son, Benjamin Bowles, Jr., Jacksonville, Florida; two daughters, Jacqueline B. Edwards, Tallahassee, Florida (former Gerald, Tampa, Florida) and Carolyn Faye Smith, Clearwater, Florida; god-son, Rev. Joe Curry (Brenda, Bascom, Florida); a close and loving first cousin, Minnie Mae Wooten; 24 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and devoted friends.
A public viewing will be Friday, December 9th at Peoples Funeral Home Chapel from 3-6p.m.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held Saturday, December 10th at 1oam at The New Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Nelson Wilson and Reverend Joseph Curry officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with arrangements entrusted to the Caring Staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna.
