Michael Anthony Ward, age 52, of Marianna, FL, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 12, 2024.
Michael shined a bright light throughout the lives of his many family members and friends. He was an unwavering and devoted family man. He loved his sisters dearly and dedicated much of his life to caring for his father and mother during their times of need. He was like a father and brother to his nieces and nephews and always looked out for the wellbeing of his aunts and uncles. He was a passionate dog lover and a loving “dad” to his many dogs throughout his life.
Michael was an exceptional golfer, and played the game like he lived life… with great passion and patience. He excelled at baseball and was a stand-out pitcher. He enjoyed hunting, loved the beach and the Gulf of Mexico, and valued quality time with friends and family.
He will always be remembered for his big heart, devotion to his family, beautiful smile, engaging and light-hearted personality and his eternal sense of humor.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Odell Ward. He leaves behind his mother, Evelyn Ward; three sisters, Tammy Neal and husband, Cliff, Melinda Canuso and husband, Gabe, and Sherry Pinckard; his nephew with whom he had a special brotherly bond, Blair Sherrill and fiancé, Leah Hicks; nieces, Tiffany Grimsley and husband, Garrett, Brooke Wilson, Heather Hughes and husband, Ryan; aunts, Myrlene Goodson, Dot Goodson and Katherine Ward; along with a host of grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Stacey Goodson, Gabe Canuso and Cliff Neal officiating.
The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the funeral service.
