Mary Frances Whitehead, 75, passed away on March 1, 2023 in Tallahassee, Florida where she has lived for over 55 years.
Mary was born in Marianna, Florida to Earl Quillian Garrison and Jessie Louise Brinson Garrison on December 9, 1947. Her father being in the Air Force, she grew up at Tyndall Air Force Base, Loring Air Force Base in Maine, Tallahassee, FL and Marianna, FL. She graduated from Marianna High School. She married the love of her life, Joseph Gary Whitehead, on September 25, 1965 in Tallahassee, FL. Mary worked as a clerk for FSU Credit Union for 8 years before becoming a stay at home mom to care for her children and eventually have a home daycare. She was a caregiver to many. Mary will be remembered for her selfless care for others and her family, her joy, having a good time, love of the beach and her amazing cooking.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Gary; father, Earl Garrison and mother, Louise Garrison. Survivors include her children, Cathy Hourigan (John); Greg Whitehead; Allison Davis (Eddie); grandchildren, Corey; Tyler; Mallory; Jessie; Joey; Garrett; Nathan; Isaac; Matthew (Heather); Brock, great-grandchildren, Flynn and Blake.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
The family will be receiving guests for a visitation at Bevis Funeral Home on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery of Marianna, Florida on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. CST/2:30 pm EST. A reception will follow the service at First United Methodist Church Marianna.
