Mrs. Mary Ester Sorey age 81 of Campbellton, FL, passed away Friday, March 12, 2021 at her resident surround by her loving family.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 16th at the St. Paul/New Bethel Cemetery located at 5180 Hwy 273 Campbellton, FL with Reverend’s Oscar Massey, Carl Sorey, Teretha Olds and Minister Doug (Craig) Cotton officiating and McKinnie Funeral Home of Campbellton, FL directing.
A public visitation for family and friends was held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, March 15th at the Shira Sr. and Chelcie McKinnie Memorial Chapel located at 5304 Bowden Hill Road Campbellton, FL.
Mary Ester Sorey was born on May 26, 1939 to the late Ed and Lela Laster in Browntown, Florida. She was raised in a Christian home and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Graceville, Florida. Later on in life she joined New Bethel CME Church where she was a member of the choir, and served on the Stewardess Board and Missionary Board until her health began to fail.
She graduated from St. Paul High School and was the class valedictorian.
She loved singing, cooking and spending time with her family.
She married her childhood sweetheart June Sorey.
She was preceded in death by her husband: June Sorey; silbings: Elease Garrison (Willie), Elzadie Joseph, Eddie Mae Russell, Katrina Walker (James), Jessie Laster; children: Carrie Russ, Marcia Sorey, Harold Sorey; son-in-law: Ricky Ward.
She leaves to cherished memories, her children: Laymon Bruce (Felicia) Sorey and Jacob Tafoyer (Yvonne) Sorey both of Campbellton, FL, and Karen Ward of Chicago, IL; step children: Mary (Kelly) Blue of Campbellton, FL and Jeanette (Gary) Staford of Orlando, FL; grandchildren: Anthony (Champ) Kelly (Stephanie), Krystle Graham (Zay), Brandon (BJ) Wilson, Delicia Sorey, Lamar Sorey, Korraye Russ, and Jayden Sorey; great-grandchildren: Claire, Chloe and Caroline Kelly, Aalia Wilson and Landon Graham; sisters-in-law: Elnora Sorey (Fred), Eula Sorey (BB), Annibell Sorey (James), and Carrie Jean (Erric Lee); brothers-in-law: Willie James Bowden and Quinton Sorey (Mary Alice), and a host of other relatives and friends.
