Mary Davis Bright, 92, of Marianna, FL passed away August 7, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer.

Mary was born August 21, 1929, in Kinard, FL and graduated from Kinard School. She had a true love for bookkeeping and spent most of her career at Swearingen Equipment Company, with short term positions at Warner Brothers and Sheffield Radio & TV. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Marianna and prided herself on recruiting new members for the Adult Choir. Mary was a fierce mother and grandmother, adopting surrogate children along the way. She had a servant’s heart and was sharp mentally until the very end of life. Mary will be remembered for her love of people, gifts of service to others, and for her penchant for elegant attire, perfectly matched jewelry, chicken and dumplin’s, homemade biscuits and really sweet iced tea.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; father of her children, Charley Travis “CT” Bright; granddaughter, Courtney Elizabeth Bright; son, Travis Allen Bright Sr., and son-in-law, William Dewitt “Bill” Bass.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Kathy Bright Bass; grandchildren, Travis Allen “Tab” Bright Jr. (Brittany), Chadwick James “Chad” Bright, Davis Dewitt Bass and fiancé, Ashley Singleton, William Atwater “Will” Bass, Sarah Bass Hall (Jeffrey); great grandchildren, Madilyn Elizabeth “Maddie” Bright, Travis Allen “Trip” Bright III, Luke James Bright, Emmalynn Elizabeth “Emma” Bright, Birdie Lynn Bright, Libby Godwin, mother of Trip and Maddie; and Brittany Bright, mother of Luke and Emmalynn; niece, Kitty Roberts; and many close friends and adopted family.

The family would like to thank the staff of Dr. Richard M. Christopher, Marianna Health and Rehab and Covenant Hospice, for their exceptional care.

A Celebration of Life will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2022, at First Baptist Church Marianna with Vince Smith officiating. Committal service and Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday, August 11, 2022, at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
