Marvin Louis Barrick, age 96, of Bascom, FL passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022 at his home.
Marvin was born on November 3, 1926 to the late Miles Leslie and Rosallie Dial Leslie in Russellville, Arkansas. He has been a native of Jackson County, FL since 1974 and has found a home in his church, Lovedale Baptist Church. Marvin stood firm in his faith. He enjoyed reading God’s word and witnessing his beautiful mercies. Marvin was an accomplished veteran; serving in the US Army for 33 years before retiring as a Sgt. Major. He served our country with pride during World War II and the wars of Korea and Vietnam. Marvin taught ROTC at Chipola College and found delight in watching others learn. He loved spending time with his family, his dogs and traveling.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Miles Leslie and Rosalle Dial Leslie; his daughter, Linda Slinkard; and his brothers, Harold Barrick and Kenneth Barrick.
He is survived by his wonderful wife, Sally Barrick of Bascom, FL; his daughters, Sue McKelvain of Dellwood, FL, Lois Lewis of Dexter, MO, Joann Glueck of Vanduser, MO, Jean Alberson of Bell City, MO, Janet Wright (Tom) of Dexter, MO, and Paula Wright (John) of Vanduser, MO. Marvin also leaves behind his sister, Betty Buttons of Oklahoma;13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Marvin will be 11 A.M. Friday, December 16, 2022 at Lovedale Baptist Church with Pastor Thomas Anderson officiating and Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow the funeral service in Lovedale Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at Lovedale Baptist Church.
