There was a joyful reunion in heaven on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, when Martha Aleta Wright, 96, escaped the suffering of this life for the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was surrounded by loved ones at the time of her passing and will be greatly missed.

Martha was born on April 23, 1926, to William Amos and Jeanette Faile in Charlotte, North Carolina. At age 15, she committed her life to Jesus Christ. She married John R. Wright on May 25, 1952, and together, they helped establish Bayside Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Martha’s love for learning and teaching led her to receive a degree in elementary education from the University of West Florida; she held a Master’s Degree in Learning Disabilities from FSU. Martha retired from teaching after influencing many students to have a passion for learning. She was a loving mother to her five children and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Martha was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church of Marianna, Florida, for 52 years. She delighted in teaching women to love the Bible in Sunday School and joyfully supported local and foreign missions.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, her beloved husband, John R. Wright, her son, John R. Wright, Jr., her grandson, Josiah Smith and her great granddaughter, Analeia Bozeman.

She is survived by her children, Becky Smith (John), Libby Bozeman (Greg), Miriam Keeman (Dennis), and David Wright (Sally). She also leaves nineteen grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren.
