Marie -France “Mary” McDowell Smith age 73 of Folkston, Ga passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020 in Jacksonville. Mary was born in Illinois on March 12, 1947 to the late Kile and Janine McDowell. She graduated from Rutherford High School in Panama City with the class of 1965. Mary moved to Folkston in 2013 coming from Houston, TX where she worked for Nasa for many years. She was a member of the Philadelphia Freewill Baptist Church of Folkston. Mary enjoyed cooking, reading good poetry, and listening to music of various genres.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mary is survived by two sons Jamie Albritton and wife Jenni of Houston, TX, and Brian Albritton and wife Jenny of Katy, TX, brother Kile J. McDowell and wife Latrelle of Folkston, GA, sister Patricia McDowell DesMarais and Thomas Henry of Arizona, three grandchildren Andy, Emily, and Mina.
Graveside services for Mary will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at the Oakland Cemetery in Panama City, FL with Rev. Homer Hutto officiating. Family will receive friends at 9:00 AM, at Heritage Funeral Home, 247 N Tyndall Parkway, Panama City, FL 32404.
