Marianna volleyball takes 3-0 win over Godby, falls to Santa Fe

The Marianna Lady Bulldogs traveled to Gainesville this past week to participate in the volleyball district tournament. The team entered the contest with a 20-6 record, the best record in recent team history.
The Lady Bulldogs took the court Thursday evening looking for a win and they took just three sets to pick up the win and a chance to move another step closer to the district championship. They won set one 25-14 before taking the second set 25-8. It was a 25-11 in the third set to take the win.
The victory celebration was short-lived with the Lady Bulldogs taking high-ranked Santa Fe Friday night and fell in three sets.
On the season, the Bulldogs were led by Kinsey Smith in kills on the year with 202. That gave Smith a 45th national ranking in kills. Kinsey Smith led the team on the year in blocks ranking 11th in the nation with 78 blocks. For serve aces, it was Gabby Bess with a 14th national ranking and 78 serves on the year. Lauren Brock was on the leader board in digs with 202 for the year and a 70th national ranking.
