Maggie Rabon Funderburk of Chattahoochee, Florida passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, February 13, 2023, at the age of 90. She was born in 1932 in the small community of Recovery, Georgia to Roy S. Rabon, Sr. and Laura Ellen White Rabon. Maggie was a graduate of Chattahoochee High School at the age of 16 in 1949. She married the love of her life Robert E. Funderburk, Sr. in March of 1950 and together raised their three children Bob, Linda Carol and Lori. Maggie began her career at Florida State Hospital and soon entered the nursing training program there. In 1974, she achieved her AS degree in nursing from Tallahassee Community College. Maggie was a woman of great faith and loved her church family at Sycamore Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Chattahoochee dearly. She spent her life in the service of others; her faith and family were her life. Over the years, she enjoyed many travels with her square dance groups “Three Rivers Twirlers” and “Capital Squares”. Maggie was an avid gardener and loved flowers of any kind. She will be missed by her family and many friends.

Maggie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Robert E. Funderburk, Sr.; a granddaughter, Johanna E. Alsobrook and a daughter in law, Marilyn B. Funderburk. She is survived by her children, Linda Carol Palmer and her husband Harvey, Lori F. Strickland, and Robert E. Funderburk, Jr. and his wife Arlene; a brother, Roy S. Rabon, Jr. and his wife Yvonne; two sisters, Sarah Beth Tolar and Patricia Lockwood Flynn and her husband Herb; her stepmother, Melvaline Rabon; an aunt, Nancy Davis; five grandchildren, Robert Russell Funderburk and his wife Brandy, Robbi Denise Funderburk-James and her husband Ace, Michael Jack Palmer and his wife Summer, Jonathan K. Palmer and his wife BJ and Trey Strickland; six great grandchildren, Jaylyn Palmer, Makinlee Palmer, AJ Funderburk, Sawyer Funderburk, Sylas Funderburk and Cody Callaway and his wife LeAnna; five great great grandchildren, Khloe Palmer, Waylon Funderburk, Micha Jones, Elilah Callaway and Kinsley Callaway; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as her beloved canine companion “Dudley”.

A funeral service for Ms. Maggie will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, beginning at 10:00 AM Eastern Time in the chapel of McAlpin Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Blevins and Rev. Barry Cottle officiating. Interment will follow in Sycamore Cemetery. A time of visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, from 5:00 PM EST until 7:00 PM Eastern Time.
