Luverne Tidwell, 84,of Marianna, died Wednesday February 2, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Frances Luverne Austin Tidwell was born on January 2, 1938 in Marianna, FL to Stella Newsome and Andrew Austin. She was a vital member of First Assembly of God where she taught Sunday school, helped organize church socials and was head of the Women’s Ministry. She was always eager to work at the church and win souls for the Lord. She worked as an office manager for Dr. William Wandeck and Dr. Nikorn Arunakul where she loved taking care of patients. Luverne and Hubert took on a special ministry by going to nursing homes and loving on the residents. She was also over the Red Hats and loved to wear a good hat whenever she had the chance. Luverne enjoyed reading her Bible, collecting beautiful treasures, getting all dressed up, and being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Andrew Austin and Stella Newsome Lee; and husband, Hubert Earl Tidwell.
She is survived by her sons, William Tidwell (Lindy) and Gregory Tidwell (Sherry) of Marianna; siblings, Judy Tipton (Roy) of Marianna, Wayne Austin of Lynn Haven; grandchildren, Cole Tidwell (Taylor) of Atlanta, Willow Tidwell, and Harper Tidwell; great-grandchildren Abigail, Ari, and Avery; many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 4, 2022 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Rev. Jeff Hagan officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Marianna, Florida with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral services at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
