Lowell T. Duce, 77, a lifelong resident of Jackson County, Florida, passed away February 26, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Lowell was born June 10, 1942 in Bascom, FL; the son of John B. Duce, Sr. and Grace Duce. He was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. Lowell was a dedicated Classification Supervisor for many years at Calhoun Correctional Institution before retiring and opening Uncle Buds Sausage House in Grand Ridge which he owned and operated for several years. He was a hard-working, kind-hearted, dedicated man who loved his family and church family. Lowell enjoyed woodworking and was a Mason and member of the Grand Ridge Lodge #169. He was a kind and gentle person who worked tirelessly to provide for his family. Lowell will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
Survivors include his daughter Sherry L. Hunter and her husband Bill; five grandchildren, Jerrod Hunter, Lacy Hunter, Clay Hunter (Andrea), Ken Hunter and Taylor NeSmith; eight great grandchildren, Aubree Hunter, Carson Hunter, Austin Hunter, Braden Hunter, Coben Hunter, Abby Hunter, Blain Hunter, and Jakai NeSmith; three sisters, Faye Creely, Johnnie “Nell” Hernandez, Elaine Chandler (Wayne); two brothers, Jim Duce and John Duce (Ann); and one sister in law, Madeline Duce as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Kathy Duce; one brother, Byron Duce; and a daughter, Sheila Duce Taylor.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 beginning at 2:00 PM Central Time at McAlpin Funeral Home in Sneads, FL with Rev. Joel Wasson officiating. Visitation for friends and family will begin one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Shady Grove Cemetery in Grand Ridge, FL.
