On Tuesday, February 9, 2021, Lois Dougherty, wonderful mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 92 years old. Lois was born on December 4, 1928 in Ogden, Kansas. She was loved by all who knew her for her vivacious personality and sense of humor. Lois always put others first and had a giving, caring heart.

Lois became a Registered Nurse in 1949. In 1950, she married Edward Dougherty and they went on to have 10 children. After many years of moving around with the Army, they settled in Chattahoochee, Florida. She was a devout Catholic who donated her time and resources to the Catholic Church and loved to share her faith with others. Lois worked as a Registered Nurse at Florida State Hospital for 25 years. She was an active member of the Chattahoochee Woman’s Club, several bridge clubs and a theatre group for many years.

Lois is preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Edward Dougherty and her second husband, Paul Kelty; her parents Leo and Lola Gieber; three children; Peter Anthony, Kevin Patrick and Micheal James and one grandchild, Sean.

Lois will be remembered by her children, Don (Sandi) Dougherty, Bill (Cindy) Dougherty, Tim (Judy) Dougherty, Pam (Mike) Blackmon, Ann (Terry) Dawkins, Katy Dougherty and Molly (Jonathan) McDaniel. Grandchildren are Donnie (Heather) Uptagrafft, Heather (Micheal) Richter, Jennifer (Jon) Miller, Brigette (Steve) Parsons, Brooke Dougherty, TJ (Renee) Dawkins, Jessica (Micheal) Kruger, Nick (Caitlin) Dawkins, Chris (Meghann) Dawkins, Meagan (Eric) Dougherty, Zackary McDaniel, Tanner McDaniel and Connor McDaniel. She also had twelve great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 14th from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM EST at the McAlpin Funeral Home Chapel and is open to extended family and friends.

A Mass will be held in memory of Lois on Monday, February 15th at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Chattahoochee, FL with Fr. Schamber presiding. The Mass will be for family only due to Covid-19 restrictions.

A graveside service will follow the Mass in Mount Pleasant Cemetery at 12:15 PM EST and is open to extended family and friends.

Flowers will be welcomed by the family; however, memorial donations in memory of Lois may be made to Catholic Charities at 2050 Ballenger Ave, Suite 400, Alexandria, VA 22314 or Covenant Hospice at 4540 Lafayette St Suite G, Marianna, FL 32446
