The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) is making available $60 million in CDBG-DR funding to local governments impacted by Hurricane Michael through the Rebuild Florida Hometown Revitalization Program. This public notice is to solicit citizen comments on the proposed application for Jackson County. The public comment period begins on April 1, 2021 and ends on April 15, 2021 at 5 p.m. CST. Jackson County is seeking a maximum amount of $815,000.00 to assist with commercial revitalization of the triangle intersection area of Highways 90 and 71 in unincorporated Jackson County. With this funding, the County will:
Voluntarily acquire the commercial structure located at 2811 Highway 71 (formerly the Verizon Store). The County will rehabilitate this structure for future use. Project costs may include but are not limited to: activities associated with the acquisition and purchase of the real estate, demolition or rehabilitation of the structure including all activities associated with structural repair and code compliance and building façade improvements to the outside of the structure and improvements to other facilities on the parcel.
