Laura W. Liggett, 81 was born August 12, 1939 and passed on July 7, 2021. Laura was born in Recovery, Georgia where she spent the majority of her youth. She served in the Army where she met the love of her life, Charles. Laura moved back to Chattahoochee in 1959, where she and Charles started their family. She spent 29 years working at Florida State Hospital, where she retired after 29 years. Laura enjoyed sitting on her porch enjoying the birds and flowers that her children planted for her. She also loved sending cards of encouragement to community members. One of her fondest memories was leading the Senior MYF group years ago. Most of all she cherished the times she had with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Laura is survived by one daughter, Terri Liggett; a son, Charles Liggett II (Rachel); two grandchildren, Charles “Chase” Liggett (Kayla) and Kaylee Liggett (Jack); two great grandchildren, Adalind and Derek, also Sister Ann Thames Weeks and brother Raymond Thames.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Charles Liggett; a sister Rochelle Castor and a brother Fred Whiddon.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Laura’s memory to the United Methodist Church at 18 W. Marion Street Chattahoochee, Florida 32324.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Chattahoochee on Monday, July 12, 2021, at 11:00 AM EST with Rev. Mary Ann Piccioni and Rev. Mike Hutcherson officiating and McAlpin Funeral Home directing. Interment will be private in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
