Larry Allan Jones, 78, of Cottondale, Florida died Saturday, October 8, 2022, at his residence. He was born in June of 1944 to Victor and Dorothy Wise Jones in Louisville, Kentucky. He moved to Florida at the age of 13 and graduated from Largo High School in 1962.

Larry served in the US Navy from 1962 to 1966. While in boot camp, he was placed in the Naval Choral Group, which perpetuated his love of singing. Larry served on the USS Bayfield APA 33, which was the first naval offensive making 4 trips to Vietnam during the war. He met his lovely bride and best friend of 58 years in May 1964, while stationed in Long Beach, CA and married her in August of 1964. Larry missed the opportunity to meet his first daughter due to being in the Navy.

Some may ask, “Who was Larry”? He was a loving husband, dad and brother, but most importantly, a loving son, completely devoted to his Savior. His faith walk brought him to a place of finally heeding the call to ministry in 2000, which through God’s grace and guidance, led him to the once unknown area in Graceville, Florida of BBI, currently known as Baptist College of Florida. Larry made Cottondale, Florida his home, and became an important, loving member of the community. He loved southern gospel music and would sing it for you, even if you didn’t ask.

He was preceded in death by his parents. His survivors include his wife, Charlenne Berrie Jones; children Lance, Lori and Jeff; his brothers, Wayne, Travis and Ronnie; sister, Jan; along with six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be 3:00 PM, Friday, at Eastside Baptist Church, Marianna, with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

In lieu of flowers please, make contributions to the Chipola food bank.
