Dignitaries, staff, administration, and students were in full force last Friday morning as the Jackson County School Board broke ground on a new K-5 school. The school will be located on the same grounds as the 6-12 high school.
The elementary students will have a new state-of-the art facility that will be in direct contrast to the very old and antiquated school where they are presently housed.
Board members Charlotte Gardner, Stacey Goodson, Chris Johnson Diane Long, Tony Pumphrey all spoke and expressed their excitement in the breaking ground on a facility that students can be very proud to attend.
Superintendent of Schools Larry Moore said this was a great day for Jackson County Schools and he was very proud to be a part of it.
The Graceville High School band provided the musical entertainment for the groundbreaking ceremony.
The K-5 school is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2020.
