Juanita “Nita” Sue Newman Tipton, 65, of Temple, Texas, was born on February 20, 1955 and entered into rest on June 28, 2020. In her early career she was employed as a school bus driver for Fayetteville Public Schools and Ft. Bragg Military Base in North Carolina. Later she became a dump truck driver/operator for Barnhill Paving Company.

As the wife of a career military man as well as being an excellent cook; she often hosted big cookouts for soldiers who were unable to go home especially during the holiday seasons. Nita was the ultimate “daddy’s girl” and enjoyed fishing with him as much as she was able. She adored her grandchildren and was devoted to their wellbeing. Nita lived life serving others; she will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Survivors include her precious husband and caretaker of 47 years, Charles W. “Bill” Tipton of Temple, TX; her mother, Jeanette Newman of Grand Ridge, FL; two children, James Tipton (Laurie) of Hope Mills, NC and Anita Tipton of Temple, TX; three grandchildren, Jana Santiago, Carlie Santiago, and Jessie Tipton all of Temple, TX; two siblings, Jane Coulliette of Chattahoochee, FL and JoAnn Bowden of Cincinnati, OH as well as many other extended family members.

Nita was preceded in death by her father, James Newman and it was her last request to be buried next to him.

Due to the ongoing concern regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, a private family service will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at McAlpin Funeral Home with Rev. Clinton Howell officiating. Interment will be at Cow Pen Pond Cemetery in Grand Ridge, FL.
