John Stanley “Stan” Smith, 64, a life-long resident of Gadsden County and the Sycamore Community passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 2, 2021, in Tallahassee, FL. He was born on May 21, 1957, in Quincy, Florida to Hovey W. Smith and Rubena Stanley Smith. He was a 1975 graduate of Greensboro High School. Stan was a kind, big hearted and generous person who loved his family, fishing and having gatherings for family fellowship. He enjoyed life to the fullest as well as working and tinkering on automobiles. Stan was an avid sports fan especially of his beloved Florida State Seminoles. Stan will be missed, but never forgotten.
He is predeceased by his beloved mother, Rubena Stanley Smith.
Stan is survived by his father, Hovey Smith; his brother, Randy Smith and his wife Barbara; friend and companion, Cindy Bishop; two nephews, Joshua Smith and his wife Amanda and Adam Smith and his significant other Tabatha; close friend like a sister, Mary Hill as well as four aunts, one uncle, numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
A graveside service will be held in the Sycamore Cemetery on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at 11:00 AM Eastern Time with Rev. Mitchell Taylor officiating and McAlpin Funeral Home directing.
