John David “Rooster” Anderson passed away from a brief illness on Monday, March 7, 2022 at Southeast Health in Dothan, Alabama with his family at his side. He was born in Donalsonville, Georgia on February 28, 1957. John David was a lifetime resident of Bascom, Florida and attended Malone School. After retiring from Sunland Training Center, he enjoyed the simple life that he loved; including taking daily leisurely drives around the Malone, Bascom and Donalsonville areas, and front porch visits with his family and friends.
John David is preceded in death by his mother, Chalmas Anderson Stone; father, Linwood Watford Anderson; brother, Tommy Anderson; sister, Barbara Ann Anderson; and brother, James Anderson.
He is survived by his three sisters, Linda Anderson Thomas and late husband, Jimmy of Donalsonville, GA, Edna Jean Henry and husband, Terrell of Bascom, FL, and Pam Dickson of Marianna, FL; oldest friend and former brother-in-law, Rodney Baxter of Malone, FL; nieces, Gina Pearce, Vicki Baxter and husband, Mitch of Malone, Dawn Roland & husband, George of St. Augustine, FL, Carrie Green & husband, Don of Bainbridge Ga, Georgia Granger and husband, Ashley of Malone, FL, Dusty Ranew and Caroline Henry of Bascom, FL, Charli Lanier and husband, Matt of Sneads, FL and nephews, Kelly Baxter and wife, Betsi of Donalsonville, GA, Chad Dickson and wife, Amber of Grandridge, FL, along with numerous great nieces and nephews who loved and respected him and will truly miss him.
Funeral services for John David will be at 2:00 PM. Friday, March 11, 2022 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel with Edward Ham officiating. Interment will follow at Bascom Baptist Church Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM until funeral time on Friday at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
