John Alex Stanley, age 79, of Greenwood, FL, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Southeast Health in Dothan, AL.
John was born August 29, 1942 in Bonifay, FL, and moved to Jackson County, FL, when he was eight years old. John retired in the year 2000 from Sunland as the BPS Supervisor with over 30 years of service. He also was a Certified Equipment Auctioneer for 42 years. John loved working on the farm, caring for his cattle, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Burton and Mandy Lee Stanley; son, Ronald Clark; and grandson, Craig Randall Earnest.
John is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Merita Durden Stanley; children, Denecier Earnest and husband, Randy of Malone, Donald Clark of Grand Ridge, Darrell Clark and wife, Pam of Grand Ridge; daughter in law, Regina Clark of Grand Ridge; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many friends.
Funeral services for John will be 2 p.m. Monday, December 20, 2021 at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Reverend John Lawrence officiating. Interment will follow in Cypress Cemetery with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
Memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to the Bascom Assembly of God Church Building Fund at 5516 Hummingbird Rd. Bascom, FL, 32423.
Those serving as pallbearers will be John’s grandchildren: Ross, Bradley, Brint, Trint, Aubra, and River.
Honorary pallbearer will be Billy Purvis.
