Jessie Dee Byrd, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in Panama City, Florida, on November 20, 2023. Born on April 13, 1966, to the late James Richard Trent and Jacqueline Farmer Trent, Jessie was a beacon of love, kindness, and friendliness that touched the lives of all who knew her.
Jessie was a proud 1984 graduate of Cocoa High School. She met the love of her life, Vincent Byrd, in 1986, and the couple moved to Sneads, Florida. They were married in a beautiful ceremony in 1992, marking the beginning of a loving partnership that lasted 31 years until her passing. Jessie’s professional life was dedicated to the medical department of the Gadsden Correctional Facility, where she worked diligently for many years until her health necessitated her retirement.
Jessie’s life was characterized by her deep love for her family and friends. She was a devoted wife to Vincent Byrd, who survives her, and a loving mother to her son, David Brown, and his wife, Jerri. Jessie was also a cherished sister to Collie Trent and his wife Rhonda, Richard Trent, and Carlotta Granger. She was a doting grandmother to Kase Brown and a caring aunt to Gary Granger. Jessie’s best friend and confidant, Donna Couto, along with many other extended family members and friends, also survive her.
Jessie’s interests were simple and centered around the people she loved. She enjoyed spending her days either working or spending time with her loved ones. Jessie had a particular fondness for a good bonfire, a setting that allowed her to gather with her family and friends, sharing stories, laughter, and creating memories.
In the words of Maya Angelou, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Jessie embodied this sentiment, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she encountered. Her loving nature, kindness, and friendly demeanor will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Jessie Dee Byrd’s life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of family. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate her life, remembering the joy, warmth, and love she brought into our lives.
A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Mrs. Jessie will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 beginning at 3:00 PM Central Time in the chapel of McAlpin Funeral Home.
