James S. Deese age 81 of Cottondale passed away on Monday, May 25, 2020 at his home. James was born on August 20, 1938 to the late James Sidney Deese and Florence Campbell. James had lived most of his life in Cottondale and had served his country in the United States Army. He worked at Lehigh Furniture for 40 years before retiring. He also managed the Roller Rena Skating Rink for 25 years. James enjoyed fishing, Tampa Bay Ray’s Baseball, FSU Football, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Florence Whitehead.
James was survived by his wife of 59 years Diane Deese, children James Lucky Deese and wife Carolyn, Matthew Allan Deese and wife Donna, Wendy Gidget Willis and husband Daniel, Reba Deese Hagans and husband Kevin, special daughter Nancy Meadows and husband Joey, sisters Fannie Mae Shouppe and husband Jimmy, and Syble Ann Trawick. James is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A time of remembrance for James will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2020 in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
