James H. Parmer, a resident of Sneads, Florida, was born to Johnnie James “JJ” and Katie Parmer on August 21, 1931 in Bascom, Florida and went to be with his Lord on July 22, 2020 in Marianna, Florida.  James was a hardworking remarkable man, a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  To know James was to love him.  Before retirement, he spent 35 years working as a Yard Foreman and Switchman for CSX Railroad. James was a man of many hats and talents who lived a simple life.  He loved to buy and sell cars, ride horses, listen to gospel music and tinker around on his property. James was a great man who will truly be missed, but never forgotten.

James is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Willie Ross Parmer; one son, Jamie Parmer and his wife Rebecca of Sneads; one sister, Katrine Zimpher of Panama City; four grandchildren, Amy Dickson, Casi Parmer, Jenny Parmer, Bryan Dickson and his wife Alexa; two great grandchildren, Maison Dickson Fulton and Parker Dickson as well as countless other extended family members and special friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lavaughn Parmer, Kenneth Parmer and Mark Parmer and one daughter, Ann Parmer Dickson.

Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, a private family service will be held at McAlpin Funeral Home on Friday, July 24, 2020 with Rev. Eva Howell officiating. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Chattahoochee, FL.
